The Company owns and operates a diverse range of businesses in different states and varying locations ranging from large city industrial estates to small country towns. All our business activities interact with the communities in which they exist and may affect the community in both positive and negative ways.

Our objective is to minimise potential negative social impacts while maximising the opportunities and benefits for our communities. In order to achieve this outcome:

• Our aim is to place local people at the centre of our ongoing development by building their capacity to control their own development. We value local community knowledge and perspectives.
• Our employment programs are targeted at “developing” local people to ensure our sustainable future in each of the areas in which we operate. Through providing career paths of both a vocational and professional nature we aim to support local school leavers by offering them challenging and rewarding career opportunities. This helps keep the youth within the community, strengthening family and community ties. Hyne has always been a family and community orientated company and aims to maintain those relationships as part of our sustainable development program.
• Regular and ongoing sponsorships to local charities, sporting groups, school and town activities provide Hyne with the opportunity to support local people, often our employees, contractors and suppliers. Through these activities Hyne strengthen our community bonds and confirm our commitment to the success of local people and communities.
• Hyne’s employment philosophy is to develop talent from within, to provide opportunity for young people to build life long rewarding careers with the one organisation. Examples abound within Hyne of employees with over 30 years service, some with 40 and 50 years. By providing career opportunities across wide ranging job roles and business sectors we provide local people with the opportunity to develop along with the company.
