• - Production of softwood by-products - chips, sawdust
     and dry shavings.
• - Kiln Drying

• - Preservative Treatment (Hyne T2 Blue, Hyne T2 Red
     and Hyne T3 Green)

Operational Jobs and Careers

Sawmilling and Processing is becoming increasingly mechanised with computer technology controlling the production process.

Job rotation and multi-skilling of employees is common practice. Work is generally carried out under cover, though some work areas can be noisy. Operational level jobs include:

• - Sawing logs and Timber (Green Mill)
• - Kiln Drying
• - Production of machine graded framing.
• - Preservative treatment of framing products.

Training and Skill Development

Formal training through specialised providers is available for various aspects of Sawmilling and Processing, in combination with on-the-job learning. Entry level employees are engaged through traineeships. Sawmilling and Processing qualifications range from Certificate III to Diploma in Forest and Forest Products.
