I came to Hyne in 1997, after working as a Manager of a small timber yard. Whilst I took a backwards step professionally to work for Hyne, I felt that the long-term opportunities offered by a large company were more appealing.
My first role involved both administration and sales duties; this allowed me to learn about the company from the bottom up. Within six months my gamble paid off, I was offered and accepted the position of Branch Manager, Newcastle. This appointment was a significant decision by Hyne as not only was I one of the youngest managers I was also the first female manager within Hyne’s Wholesale Division.
During my debut as a manager for Hyne, I was given encouragement and support by both my staff and senior management. This support network allowed me to undertake and complete a Diploma in Management and Leadership through the NSW TAFE system. By completing this Diploma along with continued mentoring by senior staff, I was able to learn and develop within my role as Branch Manager at Newcastle.
After 7 years in this position an exciting opportunity came my way, I won the role of NSW Regional Manager. For the last two years I have worked diligently to create a harmonious, safe and successful region.
What I like most about working for the Hyne, is that the company offers equal opportunities for all employees, combined with broad potential. It also offers diversity and support, with training and career advancement throughout an ever-changing dynamic company. I look forward to my future with Hyne, and perhaps further studies to enhance my management skills and create an opportunity for further advancement into the senior ranks.
