Tumbarumba Community Small Grants Announced

Hyne Timber and the Hyne Community Trust congratulates the 20 Tumbarumba community groups who have been announced as successful ‘Tumbarumba Small Grant’ recipients.

Chair of the Hyne Community Trust and member of the Small Grants Committee, Dale McLachlan welcomed recipients during his speech at an event held in Tumbarumba to formally recognise the recipients.

He informed the attendees that 33 applications had been received this year with a dollar value over $110,000.

“This is the largest volume of requests since the inception of the grants in 2013 making 2019 a particularly competitive year.

“Applications came from all areas of the Tumbarumba region including Rosewood, Khancoban, Tooma, Glenroy and Tumbarumba itself with individual requests required to be under $5,000 in value.” Mr McLachlan said.

The types of requests covered a multitude of community focused organisations from Aboriginal (1), Tourism (2), Historical (2), Sport (2), Art (1), Schools (4), Structures (1) and Recreation & Replacement (7).

“20 of the 33 applicants were fully or partially successful in their funding requests totalling just under $46,000.

“It is great to see this money awarded to good community initiatives and I look forward to learning more about progress and ongoing benefit to the community.” Mr McLachlan concluded.
