T2 Blue is made exclusively from sustainable Responsible Wood and PEFC Chain of Custody certified Australian plantation pine. Australian plantation pine is a greenhouse positive product with a lower net environmental impact than almost all other building materials. Meaning it’s one of the only building materials that actually helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Sustainable Performance
Wood is very strong structurally. A comparison with steel and concrete shows that structural pine has a strength-to-weight ratio 20 percent higher than steel and is four to five times better than non-reinforced concrete in compression. Every piece of T2 Blue is scanned up to six times prior to a structural grade being awarded, and this data is retained for a year to ensure full traceability back to the forestry plantation it was harvested from.
A Truly Sustainable Product
The production and processing of wood is highly energy efficient, giving wood products a very low carbon footprint. Wood can often be used in place of materials like steel, aluminium, concrete or plastics that require large amounts of energy to produce. In fact, "substituting a cubic metre of wood for other construction materials (concrete, blocks or bricks) results in the significant average of 0.75 to 1 tonne of CO2 savings"*.

Storage and Protection
T2 Blue is termite resistant and can resist the effects of weather for short periods, typical of normal construction environments and timescales. It is not designed to resist decay causing fungi and should be stored in dry conditions wherever possible. After delivery and prior to use, T2 Blue should ideally be protected from moisture by covering with a waterproof membrane and storing above the ground. Following the use of T2 Blue, the roof covering of the building is required to be completed as soon as possible to provide weather protection and protection from decay. Exposure for long periods may cause decay, negating the termite resistance of the product.
Waste Handling
T2 Blue off-cuts and saw dust are not classified as hazardous waste and can be disposed through normal waste collection and disposal services.
