The Hyne Community Trust will once again, open for applications in June 2022 for this year’s round of grants.

Eligible community organisations are encouraged to consider how the Hyne Community Trust can support them to deliver lasting benefits to the region.

An example of a successful project is the Carcoola Children’s Centre who successfully applied for a grant in 2021 to install new shade structures to increase the undercover play and learning areas of the centre.

Coordinator of the Carcoola Fundraising Committee, Amanda Lewis said the additional shade benefits all educators, children and families who utilise the Centre.

“There are over 100 families and 148 children from the local community who utilise the Carcoola Children’s Centre, enabling parents to return to work and children to learn more social skills.

“At the rear of the Centre, in the children’s play area, the new shade structure is 4 metres by 16 metres, creating additional space for 35 children to play and learn in the shade of the sun and shelter from the rain at any given time.

“At the front of the Centre, while the new shade structure is complete, the newly shaded area is a work in progress. Meanwhile, it has particularly benefited families during COVID who have been able to take shelter at the front to drop off and collect children without having to enter the Centre.

“Moving forward, this whole shaded area will be a fully fenced area, incorporating vegetable and fruit gardens.  The children at the Centre will be engaged in this growing and healthy eating journey as part of our continuously improved learning activities.”

The Carcoola Children’s Centre Coordinator, Emily Lewis, who also has two children attending the Centre, said they are incredibly grateful for the support from Hyne.

“As the Tumbarumba region continues to grow, so too does pressure on our Children’s Centre which has an extensive wait list.

“Support from the Hyne Community Trust over the years has enabled us to improve the Centre and increase capacity. With this support, we have significantly increased the number of children and we have the physical space to take on more at present. However, we are constrained by the number of Centre staff and Child Educators we have in the region and are continuously looking to recruit.” Ms Lewis said.

Tumbarumba regional community groups are reminded the Hyne Community Trust will open for applications on 1 June 2022 for four weeks.

Community groups considering applying for a Hyne Community Trust grant should start reviewing the guidelines available here: https://www.hyne.com.au/hyne-community-trust.

Projects must be valued over $10,000 to meet the criteria.

The application form will be made available once the 2022 round is open on 1 June.
